At some point in life, each of us says: “I’d like to…” or “I want to…” We have our plans. We have our dreams. There are things we deeply want – yet year after year, we don’t get any closer to actually having them.
There is a method that solves this problem.
Your subconscious mind is a supercomputer that runs whatever programs are given to it. When the subconscious hears “I want…” it accepts that you want. But wanting is just wanting. You can want for years. Wanting is a feeling, an emotion, a state of mind – a state of being perpetually in “wanting.”
Many of you will say: I’m stuck in wanting because I don’t know how to make something real, or because I genuinely don’t see a way to do it. But many of the limitations blocking us on the path to what we desire are limitations we place on ourselves. We say “I can’t because,” “it can’t be done because” – and then we spend energy justifying to ourselves why it’s impossible, why we’re not allowed, why we’re not capable.
The Shift: From Wanting to Being
The method is this: instead of “I want to be a dancer,” say – and feel – “I am a dancer.” Instead of “I want to” – start actually doing. The subconscious then accepts a different program and begins working toward a different reality.
But it requires courage. The courage to set doubts and fears aside – not to suppress them, but to keep them under control – and to focus on what is constructive, on building a new, better quality of life. Step by step.
This does not mean you have to immediately make a grand revolution. You can – but it is enough to find actions that genuinely build your life in the direction you desire. Actions that make you start being that person right now, even if only in small ways.
A Vivid Example
Someone wants to become a professional dancer. To become one, they must start dancing – and find as many reasons and opportunities to dance as possible. They will not be the world’s best on day one. To be noticed and to become genuinely good at something, you work at it through practice, starting from the moment when there is still no audience.
Start doing something and gradually, by doing it, you meet people and opportunities that can support you further along the way. But you still have to practice. Simply practice.
That is how the path begins – one that you either want to walk, because what you will do within it is what you love (even if you are not yet the best in the world at it), or you will discover you don’t feel drawn to it after all. And that also gives you clarity: this thing evidently was not as important to you as you thought.
The World Belongs to the Brave
So if you truly desire something – the world belongs to the brave – start doing it. Find a place that will support you and help you grow.
In this way, you begin to actually feel that you are who you want to be.
