If Superconsciousness is perfect – why are we, as human beings in physical bodies, as emanations of Superconsciousness, imperfect?

The best way to understand the answer is through this simple exercise I prepared for my students:

Exercise:

Imagine you’re creating a character for a TV series. This is your main hero. Your task is to create a character who offers interesting storytelling possibilities.

Write down 5 positive traits for this character. Something like: beautiful, wealthy, talented in some field, and so on. Make these 5 main traits – 5 pillars of personality.

If you’d like, you can add another 5 positive traits, if you think they’d enrich the character. If not, no need. It’s optional.

Now look carefully at this character – and you’ll fairly quickly realize that your character is boring and doesn’t offer many possibilities. Having only positive traits severely limits the storylines you can build, and eliminates all challenge and adventure, because the character always responds in the ideal way, drawing only from their pool of positive qualities.

Both TV and game writers – as well as tabletop roleplayers who create characters and act out their interactions – correctly observe that a character with only positive traits is useless in the long run. They’re flat, limited, and can’t convey deep, complex ideas. Can’t convey anything that truly matters.

So return to the exercise and add 5 negative traits – 5 flaws. For example: they have a disfiguring scar, they walk with a limp, they’re not particularly wealthy, perhaps they’re a bit socially awkward. Write down whatever flaws come to mind on the same page.

Now look at the whole picture and ask yourself: isn’t this character now fuller? More interesting? Better?

A character with flaws offers a far richer range of developmental possibilities. Their actions carry greater weight, their struggle with their weaknesses makes their efforts more meaningful – and their positive traits become all the more valuable for it.

We are not perfect as human beings. We have various flaws – and this is precisely what gives us greater potential for deep, meaningful growth.

You too, with your flaws, are a more distinctive person – in a certain sense, more valuable.

Of course, part of the process is overcoming your own limitations, or developing the capacity to adapt to different conditions.

Our imperfection is also, in a certain sense, apparent – because we evaluate ourselves through the lens of our biological and neurochemical conditioning, our cultural values, and so on. In other words, we assess from the subjective perspective the universe gave us, so that we could participate in this process and experience it in such richly different ways. This makes our experience unique and deeply valuable.

Look at your own traits with greater understanding and remember: all traits – including the undesirable ones – can be tools for your development and growth.

Through awareness of your imperfection, you can also more clearly recognize the inspiring, elevating ideas that will help you develop and ascend.

Contact with your superconsciousness – with the perfect dimension of your own self – can help with this. It will inspire you and help you see yourself and the world from a fresh, valuable perspective, perfectly complementing who you already are.
